Itsa Fait Accompli ($16.00) backed up his last-start Narrandera Cup victory with a win in the $40,000 Benchmark 71 Handicap (1900m) at Canterbury.
Trained by David Blundell, Itsa Fait Accompli powered home down the outside to score by 1¼ lengths with Robbie Dolan in the saddle.
It was his first metropolitan win against city horses after winning two Highway Handicaps last year.
Blundell was over the moon with the five-year-old’s latest win.
“It was great. I thought he might get held up for a while but Robbie rode him well and he appreciated the few kilos off,” Blundell said.
“I’m so proud of this horse. He’s a real laidback fella but he’s responding to his work, we’ve changed it up a bit.
“I’m thrilled to bits for the owners and the horse.”
Itsa A Fait Accompli is owned by Mick Doyle. It was the horse’s sixth career win and took his career earnings close to the $200,000 mark from just 19 starts.
