With the Wagga byelection scheduled for September 8, the electorate has been in the political spotlight, but Mr Hazzard’s daggy dad dancing in Parliament added a whole new dimension to the debate over whether Labor or the Coalition has done more for voters.
The Minister for Health and Medical Research had been attempting to use a front page article from an old edition of The Daily Advertiser to back up his argument that Labor was “untrustworthy”.
The article he brandished in the chamber featured a story written before the Wagga Base Hospital redevelopment had begun.
When Labor MP Jodi McKay tried to interrupt Mr Hazzard with a point of order on two occasions, the Minister responded with a display of some questionable dance moves.
“Have you been drinking? Are you drunk?,” Ms McKay asked.
