Lovell broke his hand in the round 14 win over Narrandera and will not play again this season.
Wagga Tigers coach Shaun Campbell said the loss of Lovell is unfortunate.
“For sure, if we were sitting up the top of the ladder I would be a lot more concerned but he’s a big loss and a big out,” Campbell said.
Lovell won Tigers’ best and fairest award last season and has again been a standout this year in trying circumstances.
Amid a number of player departures, Lovell has moved into a key defensive post this season and has often played on opposition forwards much bigger in size.
Lovell missed last Saturday’s loss to Leeton-Whitton and will be on the sidelines for Tigers’ last three games against Coolamon, Collingullie-Glenfield Park and Griffith.
Tigers sit in eighth position on the ladder with two wins and a draw for the season.
