The Hawks veteran has been tidy in goals for the defending premiers despite having his run of clean sheets scrapped in last week’s 4-2 win over Junee.

A water-tight defence is key to Henwood Park’s title hopes but Trinder insists the team’s success is being driven from the front.

“There’s definitely been a turnaround,” he said.

“It’s something I’ve raised in the past about playing people in the right roles and that’s what we’re doing well at the moment.

“I think Ryan (McKenzie) has been playing really well over the past few weeks and leading the way, which is good to see for a first-year coach.

“He’s starting to direct and affect play for us and that’s going to be important while Jake (Ploenges) is out with injury.”

Trinder also cited the influence of Matt Menser in the back half of the season.

“As soon as Matty came on against Junee, we clicked into gear,” he said.

“He’ll be important for us against Tumut this weekend.”
