Trainer Mick Miladinovic fronted a stewards inquiry at Wagga this week after Kopaonik returned a positive to prohibited substance Heptaminol from her win in the Class Two Handicap (1200m) on June 4.
Stewards fined Miladinovic $6000 after giving consideration to his submissions, previous unblemished record over a long period, his personal circumstances and the nature of the substance.
Kopapnik was subsequently disqualified from the race and the placings were amended accordingly. It means the Joe Cleary-trained Cliff is now the winner of the race.
Wagga-trained horses Call Me Anything, Marco Man and Kruanui were all promoted to second, third and fourth placings respectively.
Miladinovic was advised of his rights to appeal.
