However, now in a fitting gesture a commissioned sculpture will be unveiled in the township of Henty to honour the role this man played.

On September 12 at 2pm members of the community and farming circles will gather to officially acknowledge the piece of art work and the significance of his invention. 

Headlie Taylor museum chairman and great nephew of Mr Taylor, Bruce Taylor said it would be a special day for Henty and the agricultural industry.

Mr Taylor said the event, scheduled one week out from the Henty Machinery Field Days, meant the sculpture would be available for visitors to the agricultural event to see too. 

In fact, the sculpture and work of Headlie Taylor will also be acknowledged during the field days, on day one, September, 18 at 11.10am. 

Mr Taylor said the sculpture depicted Headlie working at his anvil.

“It will recognise his contribution to agriculture,” Mr Taylor said.

Located right beside the Olympic Highway in Bicentennial Park the sculpture will be visible to visitors, locals and tourists. 

It will be known as the Headlie Taylor sculpture and it will show Headlie working at his anvil.  

“It is lifesize plus 10 per cent,” Mr Taylor explained. 

Mr Taylor said the idea of having a sculpture made to mark the work of Headlie had been talked about back in 2010.

And with plenty of community support and some state government funding $85,000 was raised to make it a reality. 

“With 60,000 people going to the field days, there will be a big percentage driving right past, we want them to see it,” Mr Taylor said. 

In addition to the unveiling on September, 12 a sculpture workshop will be held on September ,13 and the Henty Lifestyle Centre starting at 9am. Mr Taylor also confirmed there were more plans to honour the work of Headlie Taylor.

He said a scholarship would be announced in the future.
