The tournament was well received in its inaugural year and competition organisers are eager to see Wagga’s next generation of stars don their school colours and hit the paddock.
“We put heaps of time and effort into the Sydney FC Cup last year and modelled it in the same vein as the Paul Kelly Cup and the other big junior events on offer,” a Football Wagga spokesperson said.
“It was taken up really well last year and we’ve got plenty of schools involved again this year.”
Currently, 11 teams are listed to compete in the boys competition with another 11 expected to participate in the girls division.
The teams will do battle on Thursday at Rawlings Park with each team scheduled to play up to five games before semi finalists are determined.
The semi finals will then be played at 2.15pm on Thursday afternoon to determine the grand finalists for both boys and girls competitions.
This year’s grand final schedule has been arranged to line up with Football Wagga’s senior interschool competitions, the Creed Shield and Shipard Shield tournaments.
Defending premiers South Wagga are expected to again dominate both the boys and girls divisions this year.
