Sourcing local products, using reclaimed materials and designing a modern elegant home were goals for the team at Jones Designs when creating this Boorooma property.
After walking through the front door it’s clear to see that all these goals have been hit.
From the burnt timber and reclaimed brick at the entrance, to the large glass doors at the rear of the home this property oozes class throughout.
“We wanted to do something that’s was innovative, and because it was our house we could do that,” Jones Designs owner Andrew Jones said. All aspects of the house interiors and exteriors were carefully thought out, from the colour use and placement, types of flooring, plant selection and use of light and texture.
“We created bespoke features by repurposing light fixtures and also designed and created light shades to suit the modern industrial style of the property,” Andrew’s wife Erica said.
However, the aesthetics of the property were just one small part of the design process.
The sloping site of the block, whilst bringing in stunning views, brought challenges.

“We enjoyed working on such a challenging site and used the slope to our advantage,” Andrew said.
“We looked at various options to make sure that the design worked without doing a standard cut-and-fill.”
The end result speaks for itself. A spacious home which fits the natural fall of the slope. The front of the home is set down slightly offering some privacy from the street while the house is steps down following the slope.
“The house steps down with the minimum site cut but still maximises the views with higher ceilings in the main living area,” Andrew said.
“We looked at various options to make sure that the design worked without doing a standard cut-and-fill or building the house way above the natural slope of the ground.”
The higher ceilings add a touch of class and luxury to the home.
The house includes: a garage, two living areas, four bedrooms, bathroom, walk-in linen, open-plan kitchen, dining area, butlers pantry, laundry, study nook and master bedroom with ensuite. This home showcases the design work of Jones Designs and the building work of Roberson Construction.
