After coming through one elimination final with a tight win over Albury they face another at Conolly Rugby Complex against the premiers.
Both teams have won at their respective home grounds so far this season, but coach Morgan Grivas expects a different kind of challenge this time around.
“There is plenty to play for at this time of year and we managed to get a win against Leeton earlier in the year but that was a different time and a different venue,” Grivas said.
“It is going to be a real challenge and they will want to rebound after the last couple of weeks in those games against Ag College.”
Tumut hosted the preliminary final two years ago but failed to make it through despite finishing third.
Grivas believes hosting it again this time offers the side more incentive, but he doesn’t want to look too far ahead.
“It does but can’t we lose focus on the job we have do,” he said.
“Leeton are too good a side to take lightly.
“We need to make sure we are focused on how we get the job done this weekend.”
Tumut will take an unchanged line up into the clash.
Grivas believes maintaining possession will be key for securing the victory.
“We need to go a better job, yet again with controlling possession,” he said.
“Last week was a big improvement on the last time we beat a top five side and we are going to need another step up there.”
Defence, particularly in the middle of the field is another area Grivas wants to focus on.
“We got a couple of line breaks through the middle against us last week and if we allow Leeton to come through the middle of the field it is going to be a long day for us,” he said.
