Wayne Jenkins the vice president of the club said the event is staged at venues all round the world on the first Saturday of August.
“For a little place like Wagga to be the first ones in Australia to take it up,” he said.
“We are very proud of that and it’s about keeping blues alive and celebrating it.”
Blues has been the base of many great artists like the Rolling Stones and can be slow or fast, Mr Jenkins said.
“Traditionally it’s sad,” he said.
“A lot of the songs came out of the cotton fields in America, but it’s more than that.
“Blues is interesting because it can be lots of things, there is so many aspects.”
The Bidgee Blues Club has been going for more than 10 years and prides itself on giving new musicians a place to perform live.
“There’s been quite a few guys and girls who started in their bedroom, playing an instrument, who have built the courage to stand up and play,” he said.
“We try to make it non-threatening and welcoming to all, young and old.”
There will be five hours of live musical entertainment provided by national and local Blues artists will be on at the Home Tavern from 5pm on Saturday.
