Refreshed from their bye last weekend, the minor premiership favourites looked dangerous at Burns Park against last year’s champions, Tolland.
The Jaguars eventually outgunned the Wolves under the Junee sun, running out 2-1 victors to keep ahead of a red-hot Henwood Park outit.
Lake Albert put up a brave fight but couldn’t quit match it with Rod Buik’s Hawks, falling 2-1 in an excellent game down at Rawlings Park.
The big winners of the round were South Wagga, who leapfrogged Tolland into third place after handing the Strikers a 6-3 thrashing at O’Connor Park.
Cootamundra proved their salt in attack, however, a leaky defence proved costly at the Warriors ran away with a comfortable win.
Despite the loss, the Strikers hang on to fifth place on the ladder ahead of Lake Albert and bottom-placed Wagga United.
