After an error-riddled first half by the Bulls, Brothers went into half-time up 18-6 at Harris Park on Sunday.
However the premiers responded in the best possible fashion and scored six tries to one in the second half to claim a 42-22 win.
Captain-coach Kyle McCarthy was thrilled with how the team was able to turn it around.
“You drop the ball against a quality team like Brothers they are going to make you pay,” McCarthy said.
“They did that and did it well, but we knew if we held the ball we were in for a good shot especially with a solid wind at our back for the second half.
“(The second half) was good.
“We completed the first eight sets and it set the platform.
“It took a lot of energy out of their legs and the points came in the back end of the second half.”
The Bulls began brilliantly when Josh Siegwalt found the towering Usaia O’Sulivan with a high ball but then the tide turned against the Bulls.
After Steven Tracey gave away penalty in possession, Brothers received some more good luck when Aaron Wynne scored from a ricocheted Peter Little kick.
Brothers were in again when Cade Price capitalised on a Jake Dooley error before Little found his way over after another Bulls mistake.
However it only took seven minutes for the Bulls to level things in the second half after tries to Nathan Rose and Dooley.
Sespite Brothers hitting back when Ed Ansell put Harold Kirby over it was really all one-way traffic in the second half.
Compounded by a number of injuries Brothers struggled to stay with their rivals who kept producing long range efforts to score.
Coach Terry Westblade was disappointed by how things unraveled for his side.
“We just fell off our tackles badly in the second half and they played an up tempo game and it got away on us,” Westblade said.
Hayden Jeans led the way up front getting through plenty of work and scored a double for his troubles.
His first effort put Southcity back in front after some sharp work from McCarthy at dummy half and the big front rower was there to pick up the crumbs minutes later when Brad Cain and Price both failed to contain a kick.
Rose also really came into the game during the second half and set up Dooley for his second with another break before Jack Lyons finished the scoring with another strong run.
The win puts Southcity in the box seat to claim the minor premiership.
They are now a win and plenty of percentage clear of Brothers with two rounds to go.
One dampener was a late knee injury to Jordan Shepherd who had to be assisted off the field.
