The Steamers failed to capitalise on a bright start to fall 29-25 against Tumut at Conolly Rugby Complex.
Albury had won four straight games heading into the finals, including a big win over the Bulls, but couldn’t come away with another victory.
Coach Paul Musarra lamented how his side got bullied to playing away from their usual style.
“They were better through the middle, they dominated and we knew they were going to be hard through the middle of the park,” Musarra said.
“They made good yards and scored some good tries.
“They stopped us playing our normal way of controlling forwards and spreading it wide.
“We got into this continuous phase fall which feed into their forwards.”
Looking back at the season, Musarra believes the club has built its depth.
