For the second week running Aggies proved too strong for the premiers, but the two games were vastly different.

Leeton took it to a different level at Conolly Rugby Complex on Saturday, but failed to make the most of a number of good opportunities in the first half.

They were camped on Ag College’s line for most of the half but struggled to break through.

It proved costly in the end as a late onslaught of tries saw Ag College progress to the major semi-final with a 37-12 victory.

Captain Tim Rolls rued his team’s poor discipline, which included having number eight Mesulame Navakayala yellow carded late in the first half.

“We knew what to expect having played last week and again they are a fast, young, hard running side and really got a roll on there in the second half,” Rolls said.

“It didn’t help that we let them back in with a fair few penalties.”

Leeton now need to regroup to tackle Tumut at Conolly this Saturday after the Bulls tight win over Albury.

Rolls is hoping the side can respond with their season now on the line.

“I think at the moment we are just lacking that finishing touch, that last pass that we’ve had Noa (Rabici) for for the last year and half,” he said.

“Having said that our boys in the back line really stood up and our defensive was out of sight better than what it was the week before.”
