Patterson and Okot were forced to the sideline with injury complaints while Moffat copped a nasty knock to the head and required a visit to hospital for a concussion check. 

It’s the last thing the Wanderers needed as their luckless run in this year’s State League continues.

The 3-0 result marked the club’s 15^th loss this season and stretches their winless streak to more than three months, Wanderers coach Ross Morgan admitting it was “another tough game” against a strong opponent.

“Bankstown are a side that’s really pushing for promotion, but to the boys’ credit, I thought we rallied quite well when those boys went off with injury,” Morgan said.

“I thought Bradley Fangas had a pretty good game in defence, too.”

Ever an optimist, the Wanderers coach pointed to strong showings from a number of young players who stepped up to the task against their highly-touted rivals.

“We had a few boys come up from the under 18s and under 20s who played really well for us,” Morgan said.

“Jacob Ochieng and Max Lysaght had a good go and had some shots on goal while Zach Pinney had a good run with the first grade side.”

All eyes now turn to this weekend’s clash with Balmain FC and Morga is hopeful for a positive result at Gissing Oval.

“We haven’t been able to take the strongest teams for away games this year, but at home we can really go at some of these teams. We’d love to get something from this one,” Morgan said.
