Coach Craig Stewart said it felt like the finals had come early as the team toughed out a 8-0 win at Equex Centre.
“It was a good tight win,” Stewart said.
“It was like finals football come early so it was good.”
Brothers started off well with Bridget Suckling scoring an early try, but they didn’t extend their lead until late in the game.
However Bridget Horsley was able to convert a Cootamundra error to secure the victory.
“It was good to just hang in there,” Stewart said.
The win sees the premiers move back on top of the ladder.
Percentage is all the separates them and Albury with three rounds before finals.
Brothers have only lost once so far this season, to Albury in round one, and Stewart is looking to maintain their hot streak ahead of a new-look finals series.
“It is always a good spot to be to get that second chance,” he said.
On the other hand Cootamundra are fourth on percentage, with Kangaroos and Southcity both trying to go around them.
Brothers raised around $5000 for Riverina Cancer Care Centre on the day after auctioning off their special pink jumpers.
