It follows a forecast of possible rainfall across the week, marking the close of another two weeks of school holidays.
For most schools, it will be a pupil-free day, but teaching staff across the region will be back to work, embracing the bitter cold, with a chilly 1 degree recorded in Wagga at about 6.30am on Monday.
This was set to rise one degree before 9am.
Showers have been tipped as likely across the Riverina on Monday afternoon and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
This is set to be followed by a wet weekend, with snowfall predicted in the alpine areas.
With holidays coming to a close, commuters are reminded to add extra time, allowing for additional traffic and active school zones.
