After a poor month heading into the bye, the Blues responded in the best possible fashion to take a 44-10 win.
Helped by the sin-binning of Dragons captain-coach Sam Elwin, the home side went out to an early 16-0 lead.
However it was in the second half where they did most of the damage.
Co-coach Dean Bristow led from the front and was pleased to bring up the important win.
“It was huge for us,” Bristow said.
“It was our season today, we knew it, and went out there and put everything on the line.
“We got out to 16-0 early in the first half and then went away from what we were doing to finish the half really scrappy.
“We had a big talk at half-time and I really challenged them to see if we could finish the game and put them to the sword and to the boys credit they stuck to it and managed to get a few points on them.”
Jonathon McNamara scored a hat-trick on the wing while Alexander Rae as he scored his first try for the club after getting the call up to replace Michael Clark at centre.
The Blues moved Junee and Cootamundra around courtesy of their better percentage.
It sets up a huge clash with arch rivals Gundagai at Twickenham on Sunday.
The Tigers are third, one win clear, and have not lost the Blues since 2010.
“Obviously we have a big test again this week but all we can do is keep playing what is in front of us and hopefully we can keep stepping up to the mark and keep getting those wins,” Bristow said.
“The rest will take care of itself.”
