The Bulldogs scrapped hard all day and were still in the contest when only down by 13 points at three-quarter-time.

But the Demons lifted when it mattered and booted six goals to one in the final term to run out comfortable winners, 14.9 (83) to 7.7 (49) at Maher Oval.

Collingullie-GP coach Luke Gestier produced his best game of the season to finish with a seven-goal haul against his junior club.

Ed Perryman continued his top form at senior level with another strong performance, while the Klemke brothers all played a major hand in the win.

After another injury-interrupted season, Gestier was happy to hit the scoreboard in his second game back.

“It was good. Obviously coming back last week from injury, it’s good to get a little bit of confidence in the second week back,” Gestier said.

“I’ve still got to get going again but hopefully I can keep it going into finals.”

Turvey Park kicked the first two goals of the game in a strong show of intent and they never went away until late in the game.

The Demons led by four points at quarter time, 14 points at half-time and 13 points at the final change.

Gestier was pleased to see his team lift in the final term.

“It was an overall team effort, which was good,” he said.

“Our willingness to stay in the game and compete was good...and when the game was there to be won we stepped up and won it.”

It was Collingullie-GP’s fifth straight victory and keeps them in the hunt for the minor premiership.

Gestier said while it was not their best performance of the season, he was happy to come away with the four points.

“It was a good last quarter,” he said.

“We had them for a lot of the day and were on the edge of blowing it open, we just never got there until late.

“They hung around and made it a dog fight.

“It’s frustrating at times but we got the result in the end.”

The win came at a cost for the Demons with young gun Blake Harper hurting his knee late in the game.

For Turvey Park, Jeremy Sykes, Matt Bailey and Chris Cerato led the way.

The Bulldogs remain in the hunt for a finals position, but are now four points behind fifth-placed Leeton-Whitton, who face third-placed Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes next week.

It’s not going to be easy for Turvey Park, who finish with games against four of the top five teams over the last five weeks of the home and away season.
