“Excavation works will take place on the western side of Baylis Street between Forsyth and Morgan streets from July 23 to repair a street lighting fault,” a council statement said.
“Street lighting on the western side of Baylis Street from the Union Club Hotel to Harris Scarfe is currently non-operational.
“The fault has been isolated to two light poles near 110 Baylis Street near Kathmandu, with excavation works required at that location to repair the conduit.”
The council statement said the areas will be fenced off until July 27, weather permitting, to reinstate the footpath following the excavation and repairs.
“Two car parking spaces will also be unavailable between 7am to 5pm while the electrical repairs take place,” the statement said.
“Businesses have been advised of the emergency works and Council will endeavour to minimise disruption as much as possible.”
