The free regional seminar in Wagga will be hosted by the Workers Compensation Independent Review Office on August 3.
WIRO was established by the NSW Government in 2012 as part of its reforms of the state’s workers compensation scheme.
The work it conducts includes review of decisions about injured persons’ capacities and independent reviews of the state’s system.
A spokesperson for WIRO said: “Since establishment, WIRO has assisted 80,000 injured workers”.
The latest data by the State Insurance Regulatory Authority showed that reported compensation claims increased from 8869 to 9360 between February and March 2018.
Further, claim payments rose from $207 million to $235 million in that period – a 13.5 per cent increase.
The seminar is also aimed at legal professionals in the workers’ compensation sector.
It will be at the Mecure Hotel at 10am–3pm and WIRO’s independent review officer Kim Garling will attend.
