A young Ashmont man has pleaded not guilty to a violent assault that allegedly left another man with a fractured jaw and internal bleeding.

Nathan Russell, 20, appeared before Wagga Local Court on Wednesday morning charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm after the June 1 incident, which is said to have taken place near the taxi rank at the corner of Fitzmaurice and Gurwood streets.
Russell will now have his case tried before a magistrate later on in the year.
In June, Riverina Police District Chief Inspector Andrew Spliet said the incident was caught on tape by a CCTV camera near the scene.
The offender is on bail and is expected to front court again on September 12, when that final hearing date will be set.
