Someone called triple-0 at 4:32am to report what they believed to be a tree on fire near the intersection of Hely Avenue and Charleville Road in Turvey Park.
However, when the firefighters arrived at the scene just a few minutes later, they discovered it was actually a vehicle that had been set alight.
The firefighters quickly set about extinguishing the blaze and were able to successfully secure the scene by 5am this morning.
Turvey Park Fire and Rescue station officer Chad Kennis said it was still unclear at this stage how the car came to be on fire, but he believed police had also attended the scene shortly afterwards to begin their investigations.
