Sam Allen and James Devlin both missed the 78-12 win over Wagga City at Conolly Rugby Complex with Richard Manion stepping into the five-eighth role.
Coach Paul Musarra is pleased with how his team in building into their first finals appearance since winning the 2015 grand final.
“It was good and we did some good things there,” Musarra said. “City stuck it to us, they are gutsy.”
After returning to the side Uraia Vuluma impressed as he crossed for a hat-trick on Saturday.
Charlie McIntosh also scored three tries while Tom Boyle and Gethin Cattle were strong in the front row.
The win officially cements the Steamers place in the finals series.
However Musarra has a dilemma on his hands regarding where he plays Manion, Allen and Devlin going forward.
