Aggies ran riot in the second half, scoring nine to nil to run out to run out 84-12 winners.
Reddies were celebrating the anniversary of their 1978 premiership, but struggled to contain a red hot Ag College.
They’ve now won five straight to sit in third with one round to go before finals.
Coach Will Mitchell was pleased to bring up the win.
“We still have a lot to improve on by all means but we are attacking from anywhere and playing free-flowing rugby, which is what rugby is all about,” Mitchell said.
“It is sometimes unstructured, sometimes structured but we are playing what is in front of us and that is what good sides do.”
Duncan Woods and Jack McIntosh got through plenty of work in the forwards while Hamish Pennington seems to have found his place at inside centre.
Captain Cam Duffy and Andy Stanham have also shared the number 12 jersey this season, but Pennington continues to impress.
“He’s a very good young footballer and as a coach I am just trying to get the best out of him for the team,” Mitchell said.
“He has really improved, he wants to be here, wants to be part of this side and is playing really well.
“He is doing that hard stuff that I thought he really struggled with earlier in his first grade career and that is what we need from our 12.”
Ag College flew out of the blocks are led 17-0 early before Bill Boys helped CSU claw it back.
He scored their first then set up Hamish McMahon’s try with a kick.
However Aggies responded to take a 27-12 lead into the break.
In the second stanza they made plenty of inroads as more and more gaps started to appear in CSU’s defensive line.
Long range tries were a feature of the game with Lochie Ramm, Will Whiteley, Jock Ward and Mike van Diggelen all crossing for doubles in the win.
Ag College can lock in third place on the Southern Inland ladder, and a second chance in the finals, with a win over Leeton next Saturday.
If that happens they will play the Phantoms two weeks running, if not they should face face Albury in an elimination final.
Leeton scored a 34-24 win when they last met, but Mitchell believes the team has a lot more confidence now.
“We are very excited about next weekend,” he said.
“We did earmark this to see how we are tracking and are very excited to have them here on our ladies day and sponsors day.
“I think we are a much different side to when we played them the first time so I think it should be a good game.”
