It was an honour for five Riverina horsemen, Mick Bachelor of Grong Grong, Keith Sheather of Adelong, Pat and Mahteeh Leary of Coolamon and Noel Bridle of Tumut to be among the 29 Australian Light Horsemen and six mounted police, who escorted the Governor General from Government House to Hyde Park.

Narrandera High School’s Lilly Hewitt is the recipient of the Australian Olympic Committee’s Pierre de Coubertin award. Presented in Sydney by Winter Olympic Silver Medallist Jarryd Hughes, athletic excellence, fantastic attitude and sportsmanship were cited.

A native birds’ mural, for which the Narrandera Bakery’s wall provided the canvas, seems set to remain blank. The council has no plans for an update.

An export operation for fine foods out of Narrandera-Leeton airport? This would open up possibilities, especially as Wagners operates in 22 locations across the world. The Asian markets would look particularly attractive to rural producers.
Narrandera Shire Council has confirmed talks with Wagners of Toowoomba, who are also looking at Deniliquin. Narrandera Shire Council’s General Manager George Cowan has already “extended an invitation to Mr Wagner to come down here and hold discussions about the possibilities”.
