All councillors present at Monday’s meeting approved subsidies at Gregadoo Waste Management Centre totaling $4000 for 2018/19.
The groups who received subsidies of between $250 and $1000 were the Lions Club of Wagga South; Rotary Club of Wollundry for the Food and Wine Festival and Gears and Beers Festival; The Salvation Army in Wagga; Sisters Housing; Wagga Baptist Church; and Best Friends Pet Rescue.
Councillors also approved that the remaining waste subsidy budget amount of $6300 be retained to fund any further applications during the financial year.
Individuals, registered not-for-profit, non-government registered charities or community groups located in the Wagga Local Government Area can apply for a waiver or subsidised disposal fees under the council’s Financial Assistance Policy.
