Aunty Kath Withers, a Wiradjuri elder, who grew up around the wetland said it’s important for everyone to learn about Aboriginal culture as Australia’s first culture.

“I feel the spirits of Wiradjuri country welcoming our people, and the Marrambidya Wetland Welcome Hub and Cultural Experience will welcome all visitors and help them understand the significance of the area,” she said.

“I feel very privileged to have my artwork down here, this place means a lot to me. 

“We have the scarred tree down here, which proves our ancestors were here over 40,00 years ago.

“This area is a part of me.

“Our culture is one of the oldest in the world, so to have something to showcase that is important to our people.” 

Locals and visitors now have the opportunity to experience nature, Wiradjuri culture and history at the interactive Marrambidya Wetland Welcome Hub and Cultural Experience.
