The new-look side dropped their first game against Newcastle but went on to win their four remaining pool games and book a spot in the semi finals.
Wagga beat semi final opponents Central Coast 6-0 in their earlier pool clash and went into the contest as firm favourites.
The margin was far slimmer in sudden death with Wagga emerging 1-0 victors to set up a grand final clash with Newcastle.
Held scoreless in their previous encounter, Wagga rose to the occasion against Newcastle to record a 4-0 win and seal their promotion to Division Three.
Coach Carla Bailey attributed her side’s early wobbles to a lengthy road trip and subsequent early morning game but was pleased with the final result.
“They played really well over the weekend, it was really strong attacking hockey,” Bailey.
