Anthony Trifogli opened the scoring for Leeton at MIA Sports Field, handing the hosts a 1-all advantage that held until half time.
Wagga United struck back in the 50th minute through Richard Horvath to level the scores, however, neither side could break the deadlock after 90 minutes.
Leeton coach Mick Doolin admitted a win was preferable but was pleased to take something out of a rare home game.
“We played a bit scrappy out there but they matched us,” Doolin said.
“We spoke before the game about the importance of not losing and maintaining our momentum, especially against other sides pushing for the top six.”
Doolin’s Wagga United counterpart Travis Weir had a similar view of the game.
“It wasn’t the greatest game of football but we normally lose games like that. Though I’m a bit disappointed with the 1-all result, it shows that our character has changed since the start of the season,” Weir said.
The result leaves Leeton in fourth place on the Pascoe Cup ladder while seventh-placed Wagga United remain a point outside the top six behind the Strikers.
