Drew Anthony Evers, 21, was also convicted of four other offences in Wagga’s Local Court on Monday, including possessing prohibited drugs and driving while disqualified.
The court heard of how drugs had turned Evers from a young, hard-working man who bought his own home at just 18-years-old to someone now battling addiction.
While he was satisfied that Evers was working to reduce his drug use, magistrate Christopher Halburd said the offender’s actions put the whole community in danger.
"It's not just you that we look at when we go through the sentencing exercise – the community needs to be protected from this drug and anyone who drives under the influence of it,” he said.
Evers was also given a 12-month good behaviour bond and warned that any further offending would have more serious consequences.
