The Thunder brought up just their third win of the season after going down by 10 points or less eight times this year.
Injured coach Adrian Purtell was pleased to bring up the win.
“It was good to be on the right side of the scoreline,” Purtell said.
Albury led 12-0 at half-time before Riley Sturt got the Blues on the board early in the second half.
However Purtell was pleased with how his team responded.
“We had a poor spell just after half-time, which has let us down throughout the year, but I’m just really pleased for the boys,” he said.
“Losing so many close game like we have is draining and mentally they got up for that one.”
Joel Monaghan, Jon Huggett and Keanau Wighton all returned to the side following the loss to Junee last week with Monaghan and Huggett’s experience helping the side.
Young forward Liam Wiscombe continues to impress while Purtell thought Cian Timmins played his best game for the club.
Tumut has now lost three of their last four games including defeats at the hands of the bottom two sides.
They’ve fallen short against Young, the Cherrypickers only win for the season, and now Albury in the last month to sit outside the top four.
They have the week off before tackling Temora, who are currently eighth on the ladder.
