Hawks coach Matt Hard will miss the next two games and has handed the coaching duties to Scott for the next fortnight.
Hard had pre-booked a family holiday and told the Hawks before he signed with the club last year.
Scott has a long association with Griffith as a player, coach and official and joined the Hawks this year after moving to Wagga back in 2014.
It will be straight into the deep end for Scott however as the Hawks prepare to face the top two teams away from home in the next two weeks.
EWK travel to Langtry Oval to take on Marrar on Saturday, followed by North Wagga at McPherson Oval.
Scott is looking forward to it.
“It’s certainly not an issue...they understand me and I understand the guys,” Scott said.
“We’re confident with the guys we’ve got, they’ve been working hard and I’m sure they will go out and give everything they’ve possibly got.
“We’re certainly the underdog in this round.”
After a few years with limited involvement in the game, Scott has enjoyed his time at the Hawks this season.
“I certainly have. When Matt and I spoke late last year, as time went on, the keener I got,” he said.
“It’s been a good change. You get used to being part of the fabric of a footy club back in Griffith, then to have time out away from the game, to come back in and come to a new club full of passionate people like at Griffith, it’s just like putting an old pair of shoes on.”
EWK coach Matt Hard said he was lucky to have such a capable replacement.
“He’s been there with me this year all the way through,” Hard explained.
“The boys respect him and his experience and knowledge of the game is fantastic.
“We’re fortunate and very lucky to have someone with his understanding of the game. It’s a great thing for our footy club.”
Hard said while Scott will be the coach, he expects the responsibility to be shared also among senior players like Chris Gordon, Trent Garner and Brocke Argus.
Gordon played little part of the second half in last Saturday’s loss to Northern Jets with a suspected Achilles injury and is a 50-50 chance to face Marrar.
