Olsson was picked up on video and has been reported on two counts of striking Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes’ Jake Whitley in last Sunday’s clash at Ganmain Sportsground.
Olsson was instrumental in GGGM’s 49-point win over MCUE but is now set to miss the Lions’ big clash against the undefeated Swans at Exies Oval.
Olsson’s first report of striking Whitley was graded as careless, high and low impact. It has a base sanction of a one-game suspension but he can accept a reprimand with an early guilty plea.
The second report of striking Whitley was graded as intentional, high and low impact. The base sanction is a two-game suspension but Olsson can accept a one-game suspension with an early guilty plea.
The suspensions could also rob Olsson of his chances in this year’s Jim Quinn Medal.
The 27-year-old is a regular on the Jim Quinn Medal leaderboard and the Lions’ rise up the ladder this year would not have harmed his chances.
He has been in the Lions’ best in six of their nine games as well.
GGGM have until later in the week to decide whether they will take the early guilty plea or fight the penalties.
