The Riverina secondary schools girls team have been honoured with bronze after three gruelling days of competition at the NSWCHSSA secondary touch football championships in Wagga.

Heading into the final day’s play on Thursday, Riverina needed at least one win from their two games to secure a semi final berth after a flawless three-from-three performance on Wednesday.
The home side delivered in their opening game of the day with a convincing win over Sydney East before playing out a 2-all draw with North Coast to wrap up their round-robin fixtures.
Have finishing up in third place on the overall competition ladder, Riverina drew second-placed Hunter in the semi final and needed a win to progress to the grand final.
It wasn’t to be as Hunter ground out a 2-1 win, knocking the hosts out before the big dance.
Riverina Schools Sports Association coordination officer Terry Willis said it was nevertheless an excellent campaign from the girls.
“I thought the team did incredibly well,” Willis said.
“It’d be a fair few years since we made semis at this tournament, so third is a great achievement.”
Riverina’s Sophie Crouch was a standout and earned selection in the NSW state secondary schools side to compete at nationals.
