The owner of Wild Dental might be changing but the quality care and dedication to the local community is not. Dr Graham Wild has transitioned ownership of his practice to Dr Tom Shumack, who isn’t planning any major changes.
“Whilst the ownership of the business has transitioned, from the patient’s perspective, there won’t be any major changes,” Dr Shumack said.
“Graham has a reputation for providing an exceptionally high standard of care, and my intention is for a seamless continuation of that level of service.”
Dr Wild is continuing to work at the practice on a part-time basis so the transition for patients will be smooth.
“Tom is very caring and is a very good clinician,” Dr Wild said.
“The patients I have been seeing for a long time will be in good hands.”
Dr Wild started at the practice in 1982 and is thrilled to pass the business onto Dr Shumack, who shares his passion and values.
“Dentistry has become corporatised, so that quite a few practices are owned by health funds,” Dr Wild said.
“I’m very pleased to be putting my patients in the care of someone who I think is going to continue the legacy.”
And that’s exactly what Dr Shumack plans on doing.
“For many dental visits are associated with a degree of uncertainty,” Dr Shumack said.
“Providing an open dialogue in a friendly and relaxed environment goes a long way to making the experience a comfortable one”.
When deciding to purchase the practice, it was very important that his approach to dentistry aligned with that of Wild Dental.
What really appealed to me about his practice, was the fact that the reputation of the practice was really built on genuine personal valuesWild Dental's new owner Tom Shumack
“The practice has grown without the use of extensive marketing. Rather it has been as a result of providing a consistently high standard of care," Dr Shumack said.
“Dentistry is a perfect balance between education, medicine, technology and a craft - actually doing something with my hands.
“What is really important to me is that when it comes to treatment, patients feel in control of the decision making process. My approach is to provide complete honesty and transparency so they can make informed decisions for themselves and their family.”
