Baker has re-signed with North Eastern Australian Football League (NEAFL) club Canberra Demons after just two games with the Hoppers.
Coolamon have agreed to Baker’s request and cleared him back to the Demons before Saturday’s June 30 deadline.
Baker returned from a knee reconstruction to play his first game for Coolamon earlier this month.
He suffered a knock to his knee in his second game against Wagga Tigers a fortnight ago and had not been sighted since.
Coolamon president Derek Owens confirmed the partnership had not worked as planned.
“We wish him all the best and hope his knee comes back good,” Owens said.
“Jack clearly wanted to be back closer to physios in Canberra...to help him get back to 100 per cent.
“He also had some personal reasons and things just didn’t work out the way we had hoped but hopefully down the track we can still do business with Jack.”
Baker, a key defender, underwent a knee reconstruction last May and signed with the Hoppers for 2018 to travel with Nick Pleming.
Baker hoped to return mid-season and impressed in his first outing for Coolamon in the big loss to Collingullie-Glenfield Park earlier this month.
He then played little part in the win over Wagga Tigers after copping an early knock to his knee.
Canberra Demons confirmed Baker’s signing on Monday night.
"We’re very pleased Jack has agreed to re-join us,” Demons’ general manager of football Shaun Young told the club’s website.
"He is a player of real quality, with a fantastic work rate and great mentality. He is a very good addition to our squad and he will fit back in perfectly."
Baker’s backflip makes Coolamon’s task of making finals more difficult.
The Hoppers upset Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong on Sunday to turn the halfway mark of the season in seventh position, but importantly, only one game plus percentage off fifth.
Baker did not return The Daily Advertiser’s call.
