With three losses in their last four games, the premiers were far from their best at Leeton No.1 Oval on Saturday, but managed to overcome their winless rivals and score a 26-7 victory.

A suspected neck injury to Boiled Lollies forward John Blackmore required attention from paramedics and the game was stopped with around 20 minutes left.

Blackmore was later cleared after being transferred to Wagga for further assessment.

Despite coming up short, Wagga City coach Scott Callaghan wasn’t too disappointed with the performance.

“With 20 minutes to go I don’t know if we would have been able to score three tries to beat them, but I was quietly confident we might have been able to score two tries to get the bonus point,” Callaghan said.

“I was really, really pleased with the efforts the boys put in.”
