Wallis, who kicked nine in a final against North Wagga last year and 11 against CSU in 2014, was the dominant figure in the 21.11 (137) to 2.5 (17) victory at Nixon Park. 

The win – against a Blues team which again had a handful of players backing up from the reserve grade fixture – adds to the Roos’ percentage advantage to stay in third ahead of East Wagga-Kooringal, who also have seven wins.

“He always had two or three on him and they were trying to get as many across to him but he was just clunking everything that went his way,” Temora coach Jake Wooden said. 

The Roos steadily built the win, kicking five goals a quarter, and six in the third term, to consistently widen the margin.

Small forward Charlie Boyton kicked three and Kieran Shea had a solid game while recruit Jake Whyte showed some promise in his first run as the Kangaroos eye next week’s second-versus-third showdown with Marrar.

They are hopeful of having defenders Chris Stacey and Liam Pattison and ruckman Anthony Atkin all back but Tim McAuley is a wait-and-see, while Chase Grintell had a handy game in reserves upon return from a broken thumb. 

Coleambally co-coach Tom Groves led their efforts along with ruckman Brendan Hardy. They face another tall order next week, at home to North Wagga.
