The Blacks moved back into the top five with the 53-5 win at Exies Oval.
Slipping out of a finals position after a disappointing 57-12 loss to Ag College before the two general byes, coach Craig Morriss was pleased with how his team responded.
“It was certainly a different team and a different attitude,” Morriss said.
“We got over a few bumps and bruises and sorta regrouped as a team.”
After leading 19-0 at half-time the Blacks really went to a new level in the second half.
They were able to control the breakdown better, picked up their energy and provided the back line with better opportunities.
Saione Ahomana led the charge without the number eight putting in another strong performance.
Captain Tino Kaue was also good while young five-eighth Naseri Taifai continues to impress.
Griffith now move a point clear of Albury.
They face a trip to the border next weekend in what shapes as a massive game for both clubs.
“Albury have been really good over the last few weeks and going into the bye were the side really building some momentum,” Morriss said.
“It will be a great test for us.”
Making finals is definitely the focus for the Blacks.
“It is really important for the club to make the five,” Morriss said.
“I think if we can get there, play our best footy and work hard on some of the things we need to work on we can be competitive at any level.
“The plan is to get to the five and what happens from there is in the lap of the gods really.”
