It comes ahead of the Wagga Major Overland Flow Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan.
The plan will investigate the migration options – such as drains, channels, detention basins, house raising – near Marshalls Creek, Lake Albert, Dukes Creek and the Glenfield Drain.
Water and Waste Assets lead engineer Shaula Siregar said community input was crucial, with resident’s knowledge helping to secure funding for future flood-prevention projects.
“We want to know where residents think the problem areas are,” Ms Siregar said. “(We want to know) what they think are the best solutions.”
Council will then use the fresh plan to apply for state government funding to implement its recommendations.
Visit wagga.nsw.gov.au/floodfutures to complete the survey before Friday, July 20. A hard copy is also available at the Civic Centre Customer Service Desk.
