Amie St Clair lost her battle with melanoma in 2009, at 23 years old, just one day after her birthday. 

Her father, Peter St Clair, said while it can be a difficult time of year they are continuing her legacy. 

“The event has grown every year and is more successful every year,” he said.

“We have it as a calendar date, the last Saturday in June.

“People come from all around the Riverina and we even have people from Sydney and Western Australia, it’s huge and it’s widespread recognition of the trust.”

Mr St Clair said it’s something they will do for forever and a day as it was one of Amie’s wishes to increase awareness. 

“Unfortunately we are seeing more and more people diagnosed with melanoma, but the other side of that is we’re hoping they’re catching it early,” he said. 

Moo Hubbard, a friend of Amie’s, said it’s great to see the awareness and the name of the organisation getting out there. 

“It can be quite difficult sometimes when we have events for Amie to fundraise for us, but it’s what she wanted,” she said. 

“So we celebrate her, not mourn her.”

Ms Hubbard said it’s a great cause to support because the money stays local. The ball raises funds to keep The Amie St Clair Melanoma Trust Nurse services free for Riverina melanoma patients and their families.

There are plenty of auction prizes and raffles to be won. One item includes a recognised The Footy Show print signed by Peter Sterling and Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin.
