Burlesque Wagga, established in 2015 is owned and run by Deri and Cat Hadler who said the form of dance is increasingly popular.

“It’s fun, it’s a little subversive...so you can’t really go wrong,” Ms Hadler said. 

Ms Hadler, who goes by the stage name of Mistress Pas de Chatte, started dancing herself more than four years ago. 

“I enjoy seeing my students getting that ‘joie de vivre’,” she said. 

“People evolve and become better than they thought they would ever be.” 

Zoe Hadler, another teacher at the studio, said she discovered burlesque after an injury. 

“I was a dancer for a very long time and then I injured both my knees and I couldn’t dance properly anymore,” she said.

“It gave me a whole new way to perform and a whole new way of controlling my body and how it is perceived which was really liberating.” 

This Saturday’s show is themed Fandom, with dancers putting the burlesque touch on characters ranging from Marvel to Star Trek.
