Daniel Tooze said he created Original Sundays to give local original musicians an opportunity and a place in where they can perform their original music to the Wagga community.
Now off the back of the success, Mr Tooze is planning one huge ‘Sunday sesh’ to end Original Sundays for the year on Sunday June 24.
“The three events were really successful and there was at least 50 to 100 people there every time,” he said.
“The wrap up event will be at the Home and we are really pleased to be doing it there, especially since it’s closing down.
“There will be 10 original artists performing on the day with four solo acts and six bands.”
Mr Tooze said has become apparent the event has also created a space in where local original musicians can come together to bond, form new friendships and also obtain inspiration to keep creating their own music.
“Each year after the Original Sundays series finishes I would also like to be able to give one of the acts an opportunity to record an album here locally and then have the album professionally mastered down in Melbourne however this would be dependent upon successful local government grant funding or local business support through sponsorship.”
This year has been a bit of test pilot event, Mr Tooze said, but it has been a huge success.
“I believe with the support we have had from the venues, artists and the local community this year Original Sundays could be on for years to come which I believe could help develop, inspire and produce some really fantastic artists here in own backyard,” he said.
Featuring: Michelle Robertson, Sprawler, Rory Phillips, The Rockpools, Danielle, Jesse Robertson, Daniel Tooze & the Silver, Crows, Buddy Dingo & Band, Heatstroke and Duck Puppy.
There will be a $5 per person charge to attend the event.
