Emergency services were called to the blaze in Karoom Drive around 9.20pm on Sunday, and when Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews arrived five minutes later they discovered the home well alight.
A man – the only occupant of the house – had managed to evacuate the brick and tile home before the roof collapsed.
FRNSW Turvey Park station officer Justin Bentley said two trucks from his station were joined by one from the Wagga station to tackle the fire.
“Our main priority initially was to ensure the property was evacuated, and to protect the neighbouring property, due to a bit of wind,” he said.
“It took about 15 to 20 minutes to bring it under control, because it was quite heavily fire impacted to start with.”
The fire is believed to have started while cooking and is not being treated as suspicious.
Police and NSW Ambulance crews also attended the scene.
