United started with a wobble but ran out convincing winners as Alec Hope, Nazar Yousif and Ben Smith found the back of the net.
Crucially, United kept the Lions scoreless for the fourth time this season and maintained their slim finals hopes.
United skipper Lincoln Weir hailed his team for finally playing at the level they’ve been striving for all year.
“It was a terrific performance, easily the best game we’ve played this season,” United skipper Lincoln Weir said.
“We held onto possession and created more chances than usual … our work is paying dividends.”
