The Crows came out firing with a seven-goal opening term and never looked back on the way to an important victory, 11.10 (76) to 6.11 (47).

The win maintains fifth spot for Leeton-Whitton, on percentage, over Turvey Park and the two teams will go head-to-head next week.

The Crows got right on top of Coolamon in the midfield and Daniel Muir kicked four goals in a strong performance up forward.

Leeton-Whitton coach Jade Hodge knew how important the win was.

“To go over there and win was always going to be tough,” Hodge said.

“They’re hard to beat over there and beating these teams that we’re in competition with for the top five is what we need to do.”

While it was an important win for Leeton-Whitton, the loss put another nail in Coolamon’s season.

The Hoppers have won just two of their first seven games, and just as importantly, are winless from four games at home.

Matt Rainbird and Bryce O’Garey led the charge for the Crows with strong performances in the midfield, making the most of quality ruck work from Mason Dryburgh.

Ryan Dunn also applied a lot of pressure across half-forward.

Hodge was pleased with his entire team.

“It was a really good effort,” he said.

“We dropped away a bit in the second quarter but other than that it was a really hard fought win in tough conditions.

“The boys bounced back after last week, which was pleasing. We got smashed in the middle last week and the boys responded today, and that’s where we won the game.”

Jamie Maddox was Coolamon’s best. He kicked two goals up forward before moving into the middle and having an influence.

The Hoppers have the local derby next week against the fourth-placed Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong.
