The Hawks kicked four goals in an all-important third quarter to set up the 9.13 (67) to 4.5 (29) victory.
“It took us a while to get going and we probably stood up for 20 minutes in the third quarter, and that was the difference I think,” coach Matt Hard said.
“It was a credit to Barellan, they made it hard and we had to work for it.”
The Two Blues trailed by three points at quarter-time and 10 points at half-time but a goal-less third quarter – when the Hawks kicked 4.5 – proved costly.
Despite an even fourth quarter, the damage was done for Barellan as EWK maintained the 38-point margin to rack up their sixth win in the first half of the season.
Ben Absolum led the way for the Hawks while Brocke Argus presented well and took his opportunities to finish with five goals.
Hayden Nelson’s debut was also a bright note for the club along with Fynn de Bono kicking two good goals in his second senior game.
Barellan coach Will Overs again led his side well and Sean Browning was good including kicking two of their goals.
The Hawks, fourth on the ladder behind Temora on percentage, head to The Rock next week while Barellan travel to North Wagga.
