Perhaps you gave your time to knit for the community with the Knittin’ Group, or read with the Shakespeare Club.
Or were you part of Wagga Wagga’s biggest book club One Book One Wagga?
If any of these is true for you, then a “friend” was there also.
The Friends of the Wagga Wagga City Library (FOTL) have been operating for the past 27 years and form a link between our library and the community.
Members meet every second Tuesday of the month and undertake activities that focus on their interest in libraries, books and reading.
Our friends promote, fundraise, lobby and support library programs and services.
In recent years, FOTL have purchased furniture, supported programs such as One Book One Wagga and the Language Café, and purchased telescopes for use in science programs.
They have also funded visiting authors and assisted with deliveries to house-bound borrowers.
FOTL have sponsored children’s entertainers, provided refreshments at countless events across the calendar year, from public talks to the annual Book Club party, and have run the bi-annual book sale.
Our Friends are people who believe that a community with an excellent library is a better place to live.
Friends of the Library bring together committed, caring people who are willing to work for an exceptional and innovative library.
FOTL President Gretchen Sleeman says; “We support the library because it is there for everyone, with vibrant programs for all ages, popular collections, e-resources and free Wi-Fi. Library services are vital to life-long learning for all residents, to closing the digital divide and providing a third place to meet new people, have fun and learn new skills.”
DO YOU WANT TO BE FRIENDS? If you would like to join the Friends of the Wagga Wagga City Library, it is easy.
