Ellis, who has been a standout in his six games with the club, went down in the warm-up before last week’s game against Temora.
“He’s going to miss a couple of weeks,” Barellan coach Will Overs said.
“I don’t think it’s as bad as we originally thought but he’ll definitely miss this week and most probably the next one (against North Wagga).”
The midfielder-forward has kicked goals in five of his six games, been in their best in each one, and has polled 12 votes in the league’s player-of-the-year award.
Fellow Canberra-based teammate James McCabe is unavailable this week while Siale Howe (hip) and Patrick Dando (ankle) are also sidelined.
It’s been an unlucky season with Tom Conlan’s and Mal Fernie’s seasons over early and Ben Conlan doing an ankle last week.
We're going to be pushed for depth this week.

The Two Blues are eighth, two wins outside the five coming up to the halfway mark of the season.
“We’re going to have to cause some upsets in the back half of the season, which is not out of the question,” Overs said.
“So we’re going to be pushed for depth this week. But time will tell.”
